Foundation Communications Intern

JOB TITLE: Foundation Communications Intern
LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: 5-10 hours weekly, depending on availability (more available)
The District 214 Education Foundation supports student success, innovation and lifelong learning throughout the District. The Foundation hosts annual fundraising events and giving campaigns, facilitates scholarships and major gifts, creates partnerships that further enhance success and learning and oversees the Alumni Advisory Council and related alumni events as a way to create better engagement between District 214 alumni and the District.
The Foundation is seeking a communications-focused intern to help us tell our story. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: creating and updating content for the Foundation website; creating innovative content for the Alumni Facebook page toward a goal of consistent engagement; drafting communications pieces to support upcoming events and giving campaigns; identifying and creating content for donor packets and staff, including summaries of giving opportunities and success stories; executing projects that tell the Foundation's story in unique ways, including through video; and brainstorming, with the Foundation team, strategic initiatives and new communications opportunities that can advance giving and engagement.
Examples of duties:
1. Website content creation
2. Social media content creation
3. Creating letters, posters and/or other materials to market campaigns and events
4. Shooting videos to tell the Foundation story in new way.
5. Envisioning and creating unique content to tell our success stories to diverse audiences
6. Participation in special event/campaign planning as applicable
7. Creating success stories that illustrate the Foundation's mission and impact
The ideal candidates are college students studying marketing, communications, public relations, philanthropic management or a related field. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, social media platforms (primarily Facebook), and basic video editing (iMovie) software is preferred. While this is an unpaid internship, we are confident our Foundation intern will acquire new knowledge and develop a portfolio of work to benefit them in their future career.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
