Landscaper & Grounds Laborer

In this position, you will be responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds of Arlington International Racecourse: plant flowers, mow, pull weeds, repair structures, and maintain outside of building.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs grounds-keeping maintenance activities: planting, transplanting, removing, pruning, trimming, watering, fertilizing and related tree and shrubbery care activities.
Monitors the condition of plants and checks for signs of stress or dangerous conditions. Performs work to alleviate hazardous conditions.
Maintains a daily inventory of tools and equipment
Responsible for garbage clean up of parking lots and train lot.
Personal Qualifications:
Diverse general landscape knowledge and experience is recommended
Education, Training and Experience:
Professional knowledge of landscaping maintenance issues, including horticulture principles and the safe application of pesticides and fertilizers.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art landscape maintenance practices and techniques. Knowledge of landscape architecture and maintenance practices which enhance design intent.
Knowledge of soils, fertilizers and the propagation of plant life.
Knowledge of common trees and shrubs and their growth characteristics.
Knowledge of diseases and pests associated with trees and shrubs.
Knowledge of landscape construction tools, equipment and machinery.

The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
